Theo Toksvig-Stewart

Theo is an award winning, internationally produced, neurodivergent writer for film, TV, theatre, and radio based in London. He is an alumnus of the BBC Writersroom Drama Room, an Oxbelly Fellowship where he was mentored by leading showrunners, and a BAFTA Connect member.

His first feature ‘Grey Matter’ has distribution interest from Searchlight, Studio Canal and Mubi. Theo is currently developing a relationship-driven crime drama for Company Pictures, and a new comedy about his upbringing with lesbian parents. His first broadcast TV commission was episode five season two of the BBC’s ‘The Beaker Girls’, for which he was also in the writers room. His first short. ‘Odd Socks’, starring Paterson Joseph, Sandi Toksvig, Ewen Bremner and Louisa Harland, is currently on the festival circuit where it has picked up multiple “Best Comedy” awards.

 

He has adapted a number of bestselling novels and classic works for BBC Radio 4 attracting some of the best talent to his projects, including Douglas Coupland’s ‘Microserfs’, Frank Wedekind’s ‘Spring Awakening’, and Owen Wister’s ‘The Virginian’. His dramas are frequently featured as editors picks in the UK’s leading newspapers (The Times, The Telegraph, The Observer).

 

His first play ‘Endless Second’ about consent within a loving relationship was nominated for multiple awards at the Edinburgh Fringe and received a Special Mention at the Prix Italia after he adapted the play for BBC Radio 4.

 

He spends most of his time checking his work for typos.

Theo is developing several new ideas and scripts across drama and comedy for film and television. He recently wrote episode 5 of season 2 of “The Beaker Girls”.
