Paul Viragh is an actor, writer and director born in London to a Hungarian refugee family. He is a UK/Canadian dual national & WGA member.
His first feature as screenwriter and executive producer SEX & DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL about disabled punk icon Ian Dury, starred Andy Serkis, Naomi Harris, and Olivia Williams, was critically acclaimed receiving 8 (including 2 BAFTAs) nominations including Best Screenplay. Paul has been nominated twice for the Blacklist, and for the Imerson best radio play award.
Other features include: ASHES starring Ray Winstone, Lesley Manville and Jim Sturgess directed by Mat Whitecross. FACE OF AN ANGEL directed by Michael Winterbottom with Daniel Bruhl and Kate Beckinsale based on the true crime Amanda Knox case in Italy. SHOSHANA set in 1930s Palestine, received its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and UK premier at the London Film Festival in 2023. It was on general release worldwide in 2024. IDOLS an action thriller set in the world of motoGP Grand Prix motorcycle racing had its premiere in March 2026
Paul has a major music biopic in pre-production for producer James Keach (Walk The Line).
Currently in post-production is a feature documentary about the future of disability and the rise of neo-eugenics – Paul is Co-Director, writer and Executive Producer.
Current tv development includes a family crime drama for seesaw (slow horses, King speech) and a Mrs Drama series based on the treasure hunt Book masquerade to be directed by Mat Whitecross.
