Lise Mayer is a comedy writer, author and screenwriter
Lise is perhaps best known as co-creator and writer of BAFTA winning cult BBC comedy series The Young Ones, (Rotten Tomatoes:100% ), and for her long time collaboration with comedian Rik Mayall, writing stand-up material and touring with him both in the UK and internationally.
She has also been a writer on TV shows The Fast Show, Casualty, Diary of a Teenage Health Freak, Carrot’s Lib, The Last Resort , Saturday Zoo and London Underground with Denis Leary.
Screen credits include The Borrowers (Working Title, BAFTA nomination for best film), Suite 16 (with Charlie Higson), A Paper Marriage, The Matchmaker (Working Title) and Flushed Away (Ardman/ Dreamworks, BAFTA best animated feature nomination) .
Books include Bachelor Boys, People I Have Shot (with ITN cameraman Sebastian Rich), Go to Bed with Jonathan Ross, Amassed Hysteria and In Search of Happiness.
With an interest in data rights and disinformationLise writes and directs short films for not for profit organisation The Citizens.
Current projects include a movie about 70s sex manual The Joy of Sex for Lionsgate UK and an 80s coming of age/ crime caper, Sold Out for Nordisk productions in Sweden.
