Andrea Niada

Andrea was born in Milan and raised in London, where he currently lives and works as a writer and director. His favourite films to watch and make are psychological horrors, dark comedies and anything outlandish or bizarre.

Andrea graduated from The London Film School in 2016, where he wrote and directed several award-winning short films, which played at dozens of festivals around the world.

 

Andrea’s graduation short film, ‘Home Education’, premiered at Screamfest before playing at several international festivals. The film was later acquired for distribution by Gunpowder & Sky’s horror shorts platform ALTER.

 

BlackBox Multimedia and Indiana Production subsequently bought the feature script of ‘Home Education’. Alex Proyas, director of The Crow and Dark City, later came on board the feature version as executive producer after acquiring the short for his VOD platform, Vidiverse. The film wrapped shooting in June 2023 and stars Julia Ormond, Lydia Page and Rocco Fasano. It is distributed by Warner Bros. and Square One Entertainment. The film premiered in Italy with a nationwide theatrical release in November 2023 and has become the highest-grossing horror feature debut produced in Italy in the country’s history.

 

Amongst various TV projects, Andrea recently developed a horror TV series with acclaimed Italian horror director Dario Argento.

 

Andrea has also optioned a spec horror feature film to The Apartment, the production company behind The New Pope, My Brilliant Friend and The Hand of God.

 

Andrea is currently co-writing a feature horror film with Romina Carrisi-Power for BlackBox Multimedia.
