Ed is a playwright,director and producer whose award winning work has been widely distributed to over 100 countries.
Most recently, Ed wrote and co directed ON BEAR RIDGE at the Royal Court in a highly successful co-production with National Theatre Wales starring Rhys Ifans and Raike Ayola.

Ed is the founder and creative director of film and TV production company Fiction Factory,responsible for more than 200 hours drama across all genres and garnering more than 80 nominations and awards including BAFTA,New York Film and TV Festival and Golden Nymph Monte Carlo. He was co-creator,writer Executive Producer and director of 6 of 13×90’ of hit detective drama HINTERLAND/Y GWYLL,shot back to back in English and Welsh for S4C/BBC Wales/BBC4 with international distribution by All3Media and Netflix. Some of his other credits include SATELLITE CITY, FALLEN SONS, MIND TO KILL, CWMGIEDD/COLOMBIA, SILENT VILLAGE, DAL:YMA/ NAWR and PEN TALAR.

His plays have toured all over the UK,Europe,Australia and South America and translated into more than 10 languages. He wrote his first play HOUSE OF AMERICA back in 1988,winning a Time Out award for the best play in London,which he also adapted into a screenplay and opened at the Sundance Festival Utah. His other plays are ADAR HEB ADENYDD, FLOWERS OF THE DEAD RED SEA, EAST FROM THE GANTRY, ENVY, SONG FROM A FORGOTTEN CITY, GAS STATION ANGEL and STONE CITY BLUE. They have opened at the Royal Court London, Donmar Warehouse, Tramway Glasgow, Lyceum Edinburgh, Sherman and Chapter Cardiff, and productions in Barcelona, Bremen, Berlin, Copenhagen and Montreal.

His plays have been adapted for radio on R3 and R4, opera by Music Theatre Wales (FLOWERS) and he also adapted Brecht’s MOTHER COURAGE for National Theatre Wales.
Ed is an Arts Foundation Fellow, Honorary Fellow at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Visiting Professor and Honorary Fellow at the University of Wales Aberystwyth.
Ed lives in Penarth, Wales with his wife and child.
