GUILTY by Jane Bidder
GUILTY is a contemporary social novel about a middle class couple whose lives are torn apart when the innocent husband goes to prison for six months for a drink driving offence. The story is told in alternate chapters, from the point of view of Simon Mills, the prisoner, and his wife Claire. Simon is also a lawyer – but he has never seen life from the Inside before and he doesn’t like it. Then he learns to make friends, at the expense of his own relationship with his wife and stepson. There is also a third voice; that of Joanna who died in the accident. Everyone else thinks that Simon is imagining her but he is convinced that she is real…
